Learn More about Jenny Jones
As a resident of High River for the last 16 years, I have found that it is the perfect place to raise my 3 children (Hanna, Kyle and Erika) and to successfully operate my business, About You Hair & Esthetics. I have been happily married to my husband, Keith Jones, for 26 years. Keith was raised in High River and currently owns and operates his local business, A Buyer’s Choice Home Inspection. After living in my hometown of Lethbridge, Alberta for the first 10 years of our marriage, we decided High River was the place to be and moved here in September of 2005.
I have dedicated my time and volunteered hundreds of hours over the last decade to building this community and supporting the education of our children. Not only am I a proud local business owner, but I love to spend time engaging with other volunteers to build parks, support town events and find funding to support important local projects.
This experience will prove invaluable as a Town Councilor because I have extensive knowledge of working with a board to make decisions, function within approved budgets, adhere to policy and bylaws, engage the membership and create successful partnerships, specifically with the Town. Below are some of the highlights of my volunteerism and the recognition I have been privileged to receive as a result of my commitment and dedication.

Jenny’s Priorities for High River
With dedication, I want to actively participate in making decisions that positively impact our community;
By hard work, I want to be make the possibilities a reality;
Through collaboration, I want to build on the strong vision that is High River.
It’s all about COMMUNITY FIRST!
VALUE FOR TAX DOLLARS
It always comes back to value for your tax dollars. It is not “my” money I will be overseeing, but “our” money, that is why responsible budgeting that maximizes our revenue sources is a top priority.
Council’s job is to work with Administration to ensure that resources are going where there is the most value, and that VALUE is based on what the COMMUNITY needs to be strong and vibrant. There is an established strategic vision already in place and I want to build on that existing foundation, but will ensure that if changes need to be made along the way, they will happen with VALUE FOR TAX DOLLARS in mind.
Volunteers really are the backbone of our community! As a proud volunteer for years, I have been part of projects, events and community building that has been invaluable to the town. I have seen firsthand how much a proud resident can contribute back to the local economy through good works.
Volunteers, service clubs and local business owners that WANT to contribute time, money and resources back into the community all because they believe in our town, cannot be underestimated; it is a sign of a HEALTHY COMMUNITY!
Plus it keeps High River the attractive place it is today.
Economic development and growth should be strategic and specific. This ensures that how High River grows and what type of community it becomes, reflects the priorities and values of its residents.
Capitalizing on economic or social opportunities that bring VALUE to the COMMUNITY must be thoughtful and planned. We need to encourage mutually beneficial industry and commercial development that enhances our QUALITY OF LIFE and contributes to the social good of our town.
We have been isolated for too long. Council needs to support projects and activities that bring us together and encourage community spirit. This is what makes High River special and attracts the right kind of growth.
