Learn More about Jenny Jones

As a proud resident of High River for the past 20 years, I have found it to be the ideal place to raise our three children—Hanna, Kyle, and Erika—and to grow my business, About You Hair & Esthetics. My husband, Keith Jones, a lifelong High Riverite, owns and operates A Buyer’s Choice Home Inspection. After spending the first decade of our marriage in my hometown of Lethbridge, Alberta, we knew High River was where we wanted to plant deeper roots. In September 2005, we made the move—and it’s been one of the best decisions for our family and future.

Over the last decade, I’ve devoted hundreds of volunteer hours to strengthening our community and supporting local education initiatives. As both a business owner and active volunteer, I’m passionate about bringing people together—whether it’s building playgrounds, helping organize town events, or securing funding for essential community projects. This work has deepened my commitment to ensuring High River remains a vibrant, inclusive, and thriving town for all residents.

My hands-on experience with community boards and grassroots initiatives has equipped me with the practical skills needed to serve effectively on Town Council. From budget planning and policy development to public engagement and collaborative partnerships—especially with the Town itself—I bring a thoughtful, solution-focused approach to governance. Below are some key highlights of my volunteer contributions and the recognitions I’ve been honoured to receive, which reflect my ongoing dedication to High River’s future.

Jenny’s Priorities for High River

With dedication, I want to continue to actively participate in making decisions that positively impact our community;

By continued hard work, I want to be make the possibilities a reality;

Through ongoing collaboration, I want to build on the strong vision that is High River.

It’s all about COMMUNITY FIRST!

VALUE FOR TAX DOLLARS

It always comes back to value for your tax dollars. It is not “my” money I will be overseeing, but “our” money, that is why responsible budgeting that maximizes our revenue sources is a top priority.

Council’s job is to work with Administration to ensure that resources are going where there is the most value, and that VALUE is based on what the COMMUNITY needs to be strong and vibrant. I want to continue my work of building upon an established strategic vision, and will ensure that if further changes need to be made along the way, they will happen with VALUE FOR TAX DOLLARS in mind.

SUPPORTING VOLUNTEERISM

Volunteers really are the backbone of our community! As a proud volunteer for years, I have been part of projects, events and community building that has been invaluable to the town. I have seen firsthand how much a proud resident can contribute back to the local economy through good works.

Volunteers, service clubs and local business owners that WANT to contribute time, money and resources back into the community all because they believe in our town, cannot be underestimated; it is a sign of a HEALTHY COMMUNITY!

Plus it keeps High River the attractive place it is today.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Economic development and growth should be strategic and specific. This ensures that how High River grows and what type of community it becomes, reflects the priorities and values of its residents.

Capitalizing on economic or social opportunities that bring VALUE to the COMMUNITY must be thoughtful and planned. I still believe we need to encourage mutually beneficial industry and commercial development that enhances our QUALITY OF LIFE and contributes to the social good of our town.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Council needs to maintain and increase its support of projects and activities that bring us together and encourage community spirit. This is what makes High River special and attracts the right kind of growth.
